Good news, route 66 might just become navigable by bike afterall.  Our route today was to Lake Foss, a reservoir and State Park (about 25 miles/35 km) each way.  Our destination today was on a long straight and somewhat hilly road, with a rumble strip encumbered shoulder and a 65 mph/105 kph speed limit. On paper it sounds horrible, but in practice it was a delight.  The landscape is clearly in transition, from agricultural to desert, and it kept switching back and forth between these two extremes.  As well, the route had very low traffic.  We started from home and, for whatever reason, we were all brimming with energy.  We rocked this ride.

Post ride we toured the Route 66 Museum. Cute.

The night ended with another scary electrical storm. I see that our neighbour has a tornado shelter dug into their front yard.  Ours tells us to go into the basement. Next time, we rent the neighbour’s house.
